aeri
Breath analysis for early disease detection and continuous monitoring

Project Overview
Since the progression of a disease is unpredictable, early treatments are necessary for a chance of cure. Aeri, a portable breath analysis device, transforms breath analysis into a routine screening method for both home users and clinics. etermining the biochemical composition of exhaled air, specifically volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and analyzing it through algorithms in an intelligent database, Aeri enables early diagnosis and continuous monitoring of various diseases such as cancer, diabetes, or COPD.
Considering the escalating impact of climate change, air pollution, and pandemics on respiratory health, aeri facilitates efficient at-home check-ups and disease monitoring. This not only enhances telemedicine but also contributes to overall treatment improvements, emphasizing the significance of early interventions for increased chances of a cure.

Problem
Most diseases and leading causes of death in the world are related to therespiratory system. In the future, respiratory diseases will continue to increase due to global air pollution and pandemics. It is therefore necessary that diagnostic methods become more efficient and are no longer limited to clinical use. In times of digitalisation and the increasing trend to track health data through wearables, it is not unthinkable to observe or predict slowly progressing diseases.
What are VOCs?
Metabolic processes all over the body release VOC(volatile organic compounds), the molecules are transportedby red blood cells through the entire capillary system directedto the heart and lungs, releasing the VOCs into the air webreathe out. Since each organ has an individual metabolismand therefore emits a specific VOC profile, a disease canbe diagnosed by measuring the exhaled breath over a longperiod of time and capturing the changes. The measurementof compounds and VOCs in our exhaled breath and itsanalysis via algorithms enables early diagnosis and constantmonitoring of numerous diseases.
Who is the product for?
Tailored for risk groups, patients, and preventive users, aeri adapts to the users lifestyle, providing valuable insights for a healthier and informed life journey. The app, offers daily check-up notifications and a user-friendly platform for reviewing breath analysis results. Convenient self-screening is possible anywhere, be it at home, a clinic, or a medical practice. The collected breath sample reveals variables shaping a personalised breath pattern and VOC profile, making aeri a versatile tool for disease detection, monitoring, and prevention
Data Processing and telehealth
Aeri ensures streamlined data processing for breath samples, specifically VOC profiles. Results are transmitted and shared securely with the Data Cloud, contributing to the ongoing development of pattern recognition algorithms and the enhancement of artificial intelligence. This systematic approach guarantees precise insights. Users benefit from individualised consultation, treatment, or therapy via telehealth, directly facilitated by their healthcare provider. aeri's objective is to integrate advanced technology, ensuring efficient and precise health management.
Modular Nano Module
Breaking free from the limitations of traditional breath and air measuring devices, aeri introduces a paradigm shift. While conventional devices, mainly employed for food inspections, environmental monitoring, and military purposes, have been bulky, aeri redefines the landscape with a modular nano module. This adaptable unit, tailored to users' clinical symptoms and needs, seamlessly docks to the master device. Its modularity allows for sensor constellation exchanges and future sensor upgrades, revolutionizing the field of breath analysis by offering versatility and compact efficiency.
